Title: Firewise Wildfire Safety PSA (2011)
Length: 60 seconds
Hi, I am Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.
Spring in Florida brings warm windy days that we all enjoy, but spring is also the most active part of our wildfire season.
At this time of year even a small fire can grow to become a raging wild fire, threatening our forests and homes.
If you live near a forest or wild land area, there are simple steps you can take to make your home safer from wildfire.
First, create a clean landscape around your home.
Second, remove leaves, overhanging trees and other debris from roofs and gutters.
And third, locate an outside water source with at least 100 feet of hose.
The safety of your home may depend on the action you take before a wildfire occurs.
