Tangerines / Tangelos

History and Facts:
Tangerines and tangelos are types of mandarins. Tangelos actually are a cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. A good quality mandarin will be heavy for its size and be deep orange or almost red depending on the particular variety. A puffy appearance and feel is normal.

Nutritional Value:
Tangerines and tangelos are good sources of vitamins A and C and potassium.

Storage:
Tangerines and tangelos should be stored at 45 to 48 degrees fahrenheit, with a relative humidity of 90 to 95 percent. Typical shelf life is 14 to 28 days. Both should be stored in well-ventilated areas.
