County Ag in the Classroom Volunteers


Thank you for your efforts and interest in educating students and teachers in Florida about Florida agriculture.  A primary goal of Florida Ag in the Classroom, Inc. is to provide local agriculturalists with materials and resources needed to successfully carry out county and district Ag in the Classroom programs.  If you do not find the resources that you are seeking on this site, please call 352/846-1391 for more information.

Volunteer Resources

Teacher Packets (educational/promotional)
Teacher packets can be ordered for any event that will have teachers in attendance.  The packets come pre-packed in white 9x12 envelopes and include the following resources.

Volunteer Handbook (volunteer resource)
The Volunteer Handbook is a 30-page guide to activities and programs that can be implemented at the county or district level.  The handbook contains many broad ideas that can be adapted into any size program.  Specific program ideas are outlined with checklists for accomplishing the mission of the program. Volunteer Resource Guide (volunteer resource) 
The Volunteer Resource Guide is a detailed guide to Ag in the Classroom programs done by various counties in Florida.  This guide provides more detailed information about programs than the Volunteer Handbook.  It also includes sample letters, forms and program designs that have been used by counties to conduct programs.  The Volunteer Resource Guide is provided in a 3-ring notebook.


Project Food, Land & People Resources for Learning (educational)
Project Food, Land & People Resources for Learning is a curriculum for teachers in grades Pre-K through 12th.  The book contains 55 lessons, which are correlated to the Sunshine State Standards.  Volunteers can order one free copy of this book to use as a promotional piece when introducing the program to teachers and school administrators.  Teacher workshops can be held on this book.  Click here to view the map of counties with certified facilitators. 

Keeping Florida Green (educational)
Keeping Florida Green is a curriculum for teachers in grades 6-8.  The book contains 5 units, which contain lessons, which are correlated to the Sunshine State Standards.  Volunteers can order one free copy of this book to use as a promotional piece when introducing the program to teachers and school administrators.  Teacher workshops can be held on this book.  Click here to view the map of counties with certified facilitators

Florida Ag in the Classroom, Inc. Brochures (promotional)
Brochures are available at no charge to be displayed in offices or used at events for teachers or potential Ag Tag owners.  Brochures come in packets of 100.

Life From the Land (educational)
Life From the Land is a 16-page newspaper designed for fourth grade students in cooperation with the Orlando Sentinel.  The newspaper is full color and contains classroom activities that are correlated to the Sunshine State Standards.  The newspapers can be ordered for events at no charge.  If you plan to stock an office with the newspapers for distribution at a later date, there is a $.12 charge per newspaper.  Florida Ag in the Classroom, Inc. makes an effort to distribute classroom sets of this newspaper to every fourth-grade classroom in Florida.  Information about this effort is available by contacting the FAITC office.

Florida Ag in the Classroom Book list (educational)
The book list is a compilation of books about agriculture.  All books on the list have not been reviewed by Florida Ag in the Classroom.  The list can serve as a guide to locating and selecting books to use with classroom visits.  The book list is available at no charge.  Click here to download and print the book list

Florida Ag in the Classroom Bookmark (educational/promotional)
Bookmarks are available at no cost as a give-away item for events for teachers, students or the general public. 

Florida Ag Tag Accomplishments Cards (promotional)
Card-stock postcard highlighting accomplishments in 2001 made possible by funding from the Agricultural License Plate.

Florida Ag Tag Truck Decal (promotional)
A moving or stationary advertisement for the Florida Ag Tag, these 2 feet by 3 feet decals are available for anyone with or without a tractor/trailer.  The decals are durable and colorful.  The decals can also be mounted on foam board and placed in locations such as your county tax collectors offices, Farm Bureau offices, Extension offices, your local feed store. 

Activities (educational)
Fun activities for students that are not included in the Make & Take booklet.  Activities can be used when visiting a classroom as a hands-on lesson to be done with the students or you can make the product before the visit and use it as a prop.
