Wine Competition Featured at Florida State Fair
TAMPA The Florida Grape Growers Association and the Florida State Fair are cosponsoring the 11th Annual Florida State Fair International Wine Competition to be held Feb. 4-6 during the fair in Tampa. This years competition will feature more than 500 entries from across the United States and seven foreign countries. All eight Florida wineries are represented in the competition.
A panel of 15 judges from around the United States has been assembled, including respected wine writers, wholesalers, retailers, educators and restauranteurs. Judging will take place Thursday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Florida Living Center on the State Fairgrounds.
Saturday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. until noon, a "Best of Show" competition will be held among the Gold Medal wines. Saturday afternoon, up to 100 entries from Florida hobbyists will be judged. Results will be available at the conclusion of the competition.
The public is invited to watch the judging. Following the competition, all entries and their awards will be on display for the duration of the fair, which ends on Feb. 15.
