We promote Florida agriculture to the world

Agriculture is an important part of our states heritage and economy. Florida is one of Americas leading agricultural states, producing a wide range of commodities. Floridas 39,000 farmers produce more than 280 different crops on a commercial scale with cash receipts totaling $7 billion. Florida agriculture has an economic impact estimated at more than $50 billion annually. As Commissioner of Agriculture, its my job to help promote Florida agriculture products and expand markets for our states growers. This is increasingly important in todays competitive global economy.
Commissioner Charles H. Bronson

An important part of our marketing effort is the Florida Agricultural Promotional Campaign, or FAPC. This campaign is a joint venture between the private sector and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The FAPC has more than 2,100 members -- growers, shippers, distributors and retailers -- as a result of personal visits, mass media exposure, direct mailings and presentations to prospective members.

The distinctive "Fresh from Florida" logo is used to identify and promote Florida-produced products to consumers in domestic and foreign markets. The logo appears in television and print campaigns, on packaging and point-of-purchase materials, and is prominently displayed in the Departments exhibits at trade missions and events.

Each year, our Departments marketing representatives travel throughout the Eastern United States and Canada calling on retail supermarket executives to further the efforts of the FAPC. The focus of these personal visits is to secure and create new markets for Florida producers, shippers and wholesalers of Florida products.

In addition, our marketing reps conduct foreign trade missions to help to increase exports of Florida products. They also use other trade events to showcase Florida products to buyers from around the world.

If you are involved in any aspect of Florida agriculture, I encourage you to join the FAPC. More information about this important campaign is available at this web site.
